In the 1970s and 1980s, when cassette tapes were at their peak, there were three major brands that led the industry. One of them was Maxell. In 1966, when The Beatles came to Japan, Maxell started selling Japan's first cassette tape, the "C," based on a mold drawing purchased from Philips in the Netherlands.
Since then, Maxell has continued to sell cassette tapes for about 60 years, even as competitors have withdrawn from the market, up until the present day in the 21st century.

This magazine provides a complete coverage of all the cassette tapes that Maxell has released, complete with photos.
Let's think back on the sound of Maxell, which can be said to be the history of cassettes in Japan.

マクセル・カセットテープ・マニアックス (双葉社スーパームック)

カセットテープが全盛を極めた1970～80年代、業界をけん引した３大ブランドがあった。そのひとつがマクセルだった。ザ・ビートルズが日本にやってきた1966年、マクセルはオランダのフィリップス社から購入した金型の図版を元に、日本初となるカセットテープ「Ｃ」の販売をスタートさせる。
以来、21世紀の今にいたるまで、競合他社が撤退するなか、およそ60年間にわたりカセットテープを販売し続けているマクセル。
