Landscapes with buildings drawn by Hiroshi Nagai. A
long-awaited large-format collection of works, including the first recorded works, will be published this summer!
Hiroshi Nagai is a popular illustrator who has been active since the 1970s, working on numerous record jackets and advertisements, including the jacket work for the timeless masterpiece "A LONG VACATION" (Eiichi Ohtaki). His
unique style, which seems to mix surrealism and pop art, was gradually formed in Nagai's mind, coupled with his 40-day trip to America in the early 1970s and the scenery of palm trees lining the street in front of the station in his hometown. His
colorful and clear works, which allow viewers to instantly feel the seasons and a sense of freedom, are engraved in people's memories as visuals symbolizing the era, regardless of age or gender, both at home and abroad. Even in 2022, many people may have seen his distinctive illustrations again in collaboration models with "USORIGINATOR" spec All Stars, visual illustrations for the Miyazaki Car Ferry, and UT collection projects with Uniqlo.
For many years, Hiroshi Nagai has been drawing popular swimming pools, cars, people, night scenes, etc., but did you know that he has also continued to draw many works with buildings as a motif? This
new collection of works, "TROPICAL MODERN," mainly features works drawn in recent years, and is a carefully selected collection of works that focus on landscapes with buildings. The
book design is by Yoxxx.
Hiroshi Nagai himself is a big fan of architecture and buildings.
By passing through that filter, the scenes he longs for become unique works, and the entire book is colored with sophisticated charm.
As we face the coronavirus, the spread of telework has led us to reconsider the nature of homes and buildings as living spaces. Please find your ideal piece in this book, including valuable works that will be included in an art book for the first time.
