A 7-inch single cut from "Cafe Apres-midi Meets Studio Ghibli," a newly recorded Ghibli song cover compilation featuring 12 superb artists under the theme of “the happiness of an afternoon coffee,”with supervision and song selection by Toru Hashimoto (SUBURBIA), artwork by Jiro Fujita (FJD), and mastering by Calm. The English film titles "Kiki’s Delivery Service" and "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind," along with the song title "Rouge no Dengon," were checked against widely used official and reference listings.

The Ghibli song by Wack Wack Rhythm Band, who have continued to play their hybrid mod sound blending soul, funk, Latin, rock, and jazz from the dawn of the acid jazz and Shibuya-kei era in the 1990s to the present day, in collaboration with Michiru Hoshino, an early member of AKB48 who is now active as a singer-songwriter, is a cover of Yumi Arai’s "Rouge no Dengon," the insert song from Hayao Miyazaki’s 1989 film "Kiki’s Delivery Service."

Completed here is a party-ready, groovy cover in which Wack Wack Rhythm Band’s funky and soulful uptempo arrangement freshly matches Michiru Hoshino’s vocals, singing the bittersweet melody of the original with direct emotion.

Side AA: YAKENOHARA feat. Clementine / "Kaze no Tani no Naushika"
The Ghibli song born from the first miraculous collaboration between the multi-talented artist YAKENOHARA, a rapper, DJ, and ambient/new age musician who creates a wide variety of works, and Clementine, a genuine Parisian singer beloved in Japan as a byword for contemporary French pop, is a cover of Narumi Yasuda’s "Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa," the theme song from Hayao Miyazaki’s 1984 film "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind," with lyrics by Takashi Matsumoto and music by Haruomi Hosono.

The result is an exceptionally comfortable and chill-out cover, where a floating track mixing Latin jazz and Balearic feeling with dub blends exquisitely with cute, coquettish, husky French vocals.

The jacket uses newly drawn illustrations by Shiho Sato, a painter who works on backgrounds for Studio Ghibli films, and Shinichiro Yamada, an animator formerly with Ghibli, with design by FJD.
