【5】Ryo Fukui - A Letter from Slowboat [Pure Vinyl](180g LP)
“Better today than yesterday, and better tomorrow than today―even just a little.” With that thought in his heart, Ryo Fukui devoted himself to the piano for 40 years.
Stronger touch, deeper emotion, richer fragrance. Even setting aside the weight of it being his final work, this is a pure masterpiece.
Ryo Fukui, the acclaimed Hokkaido-born pianist who sadly passed away in 2016. His early two albums “Scenery” and “Mellow Dream” were highly praised, and his name is now known to jazz listeners around the world. “A Letter From Slowboat” is a leader album created in 2015―his first in 16 years. The recording took place at his home base, the live venue Slowboat, together with two promising young musicians whose abilities Fukui himself recognized. The lyricism that surfaces in “Sonora,” the poetry that envelops “Stella By Starlight,” and the bursting vitality of “Speak Low.”Stronger touch, deeper emotion, richer fragrance.
