This is a 2025 release of a
private pressing in 1978. Honestly, when i first read =that fact I assumed this must be some weird, experimental or inaccessible jazz record. 47 years without a public release?? Could be good? Then I heard the album and it s so very very good.
I highly reccommed this record if you like albums likst Misty on Three Blind Mice, or any of the Tsuyoshi Yamamoto-led albums like Blues of K or Sweet for K.
The finest of straight-ahead “Japanese” jazz, “Toshiyuki Sekine / Strode Road” is finally being reissued on analog vinyl!!
The original private pressing (1978) of 200 copies was extremely rare, and has been revered by collectors since the dawn of Japanese jazz reevaluation around 2000.
“Strode Road,” a bop tune with a tense atmosphere, and the insanely light and groovy “Love For Sale” are must-listens!
